A warmly lit Victorian street scene at dusk centred on the glowing shopfront of Pinkstone's, a toy shop whose window displays a rocking horse and children's figures. A group of women and children cluster at the window in delight — girls in colourful dresses, a nursemaid in apron, an elegantly dressed lady with a parasol. To the left a black cat prowls beside a topiary. A gas lamp illuminates the pavement, wisteria climbs the right-hand wall. One of Jones's finest nocturnal street compositions — richly detailed, atmospheric and full of joy. Signed "Deborah Jones" lower left.
